Not sure how to get those raised garden beds started? Our blog has all kinds of tips that can help:

FAQ

Q: Are the beds bottomless?

A: Yes. That means no drainage holes to worry about, and the soil gets to touch the ground, so you end up with superior, microbe-rich soil and healthier plants.

Q: Can I place the beds on hard surfaces such as concrete?

A: If you're placing your GardenBox on pavers, concrete, tiles, a porch, or anything you don't want to stain, it’s better to add a bed liner or geotextile fabric. Go ahead and place your box in position, then put the fabric on the bottom of the bed from the inside. Run any excess fabric up each side and then fill your bed with soil. The fabric allows water to drain freely, but it keeps soil from messing up your floor.

Optional: To really protect the surface, place thick builder's plastic down before putting your bed into position. Once the bed is filled, any excess plastic can be trimmed around the edge of the garden bed with an Exacto knife.

Q: What are the benefits of raised bed gardening?

A: Raised bed gardening reduces pest and weed pressures, elevates the garden to a slightly more comfortable working level, and is a great way to guarantee you have quality soil to grow in.

Q: What can I grow in my GardenBox?

A: Pretty much anything. We’ve got some ideas to get you started, but really, the sky’s the limit.

Q: How long will the GardenBox last?

A: This bed’s built to stand the test of time, and with a little care and some waterproof seal, stain, or paint, it’ll be with you for years to come. It also comes with a one-year guarantee.

    Thanks for this gift

I'm using the box as a frame around a couple grow bags.

It's also helping me keep out squirrels, along with some good netting over the top.

    Nice

These assemble easily. All my boards were fine, although some were a little warped. The hinge pins were taped between boards and were not bent. I'm not great at assembling things, but these went together quickly and with minimal cussing. I liked the first one I got, so I got two more. I'm stacking two and also putting one a shallow hole I dug out. I'm filling them with a modified Mel Mix. My experience has been positive.

We're so happy to hear your Epic GardenBoxes went together so smoothly! It sounds like you've got a great setup going with the stacking and that creative shallow hole placement - that's some smart garden planning right there! We love that you liked the first one enough to get two more, and filling them with modified Mel Mix is going to give your plants an amazing growing environment. My First Garden Box

Restarting a strawberry bed and have found these to be perfect! I prefer to grow in the ground but birthdays have made me reconsider all the tiller and back breaking work ;) So far so good! I'll probably order more.

nice beginner garden bed at sale price

It's my first year gardening and I wanted something small and simple to start. I think for the sale price, I'm very happy with it, but can understand the frustration from people that paid full price for what it is.

    Pros:

-extremely simple and easy to set-up; literally took me five minutes

    Cons:

-One of the four sides was slightly off and I couldn't get the bottom metal slots to line-up correctly. Ended up bending one of the pins trying to get it to go through (I wasn't even using any tools)

    Hey miss,

Thank you so much for this helpful 4-star review and for sharing your first-year gardening experience with the GardenBox! It's wonderful to hear that you found it simple and easy to set up - five minutes is pretty impressive for your first garden bed assembly!

I really appreciate you mentioning both the pros and the honest feedback about the alignment issue with one of the sides. That kind of detailed input helps us improve our quality control and also gives other new gardeners realistic expectations about the setup process. Sorry about that bent pin during assembly - those little hiccups can definitely be frustrating when you're just trying to get everything lined up properly.

I'm glad the GardenBox is helping you get started on your gardening journey. There's nothing quite like that first season of growing your own plants!

    Keep on growing 🌻️
